What we expect

Lanzarote's volcanic scenery comes into its own at Timanfaya National Park. This corner of the island is all rusty-red peaks and craters straight from a sci-fi movie set. And it's all even more dramatic at sunset. So on this evening trip, you're in for a treat. Before heading to Timanfaya, we'll make a short stop at La Geria winery. Local guide, Maria, says, “this bodega offers a magnificent backdrop of volcanic vineyards and sweeping mountain views as you sip on local varieties in a wine sampling.”

The tour of the volcanos was superb and very informative with amazing scenery. The barbecue restaurant was fantastic with plenty of delicious food and drinks. The stop at the vineyard on the way was a waste of time.

Our guide was very friendly and informative and had a good rapport with the driver. The staff at Timanfanya were also friendly and made the whole experience good fun. There was plenty of food at the barbeque - salad and potato starter then chicken, pork rib and sausage with chargrilled vegetable and a nice dessert. It was my husband's birthday so he was delighted that they made it special by singing 'happy birthday' and providing a 'birthday cake' and a bottle of cava for our table.

Most of the tour was excellent, however the tour guide was very ignorant and rude, the wine tasting and vineyard was disappointing where again the tour guide was rude towards us. There was no explanation of the wine for example what grapes were used or how it was made. It was a case of walking into the vineyard drinking a shot glass of wine and getting back on the coach.

Spent 45 minutes picking up after us which wasn’t ideal. The ‘wine tasting’ would be best not mentioned and seen as a bonus stop, as it was 25 mins being given a thimble of wine then being encouraged to buy it for €19, Things got much better after that - the tour around the National Park was fantastic with a wonderful guide and amazing views. The food was sensational at the end of the day. Doubt it was really cooked over volcano heat but it was lovely and there was plenty… plus wine/sangria!

It was a good day overall. However the stop at winery was pointless was told would get 2 glasses of wine only gave us 1 had to ask for another which they made us lineup for again. Wasn’t there long. The volcano was fascinating and the food was nice but could have had more drinks considering how much we paid. Dropped us near our hotel on way back which was nice. Would have been better trip started earlier so there was more time instead of rushing around so much.

The guide did not make sure everyone heard his instructions. We went to the gift shop and toilet and our party had disappeared. We panicked and did not know what to do. When we got back to the coach he was not pleased but it was not our fault as we could not hear what he was saying as it was very windy up there.

The guide was good and gave lots of information. The bus driver was terrible. Kept stalling on the high hills on the volcano, bus was rolling back which frightened my kids. Bus then hit a rock which caused a woman to fall off her seat, ripped a big hole in the tyre which looked unsafe. Had to pay for my kids as if they were adults and were only offered 1 drink on the whole trip including the restaurant. Missed the sunset as we were on other side of restaurant

The tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The driver was very skilled at navigating the narrow road through Timanfaya park, although Im not sure the moments of 'fast driving' were appropriate for those on board with a more nervous disposition. There was too much getting on and off the bus. I don't think the trip to la geria added anything of value to the excursion. The lady serving at the wine tasting was not very friendly. There was no opportunity to choose a different wine.

Driver(mr Nixon) and our guide -Robert were excellent. Robert had a wealth of information, which was really interesting. Our driver was very skilled with the narrow roads in the national park. Felt very safe. The food was good and we were all looked after well.

When we were picked up the guide did not speak English or German. She spoke in French all the way to El Golfo talking about sights along the way. Shame we could not understand her and did not get the same experience as the French. Everything else was amazing, overall fabulous experience. On the way back same guide waffled on to the French but nothing to English or German folks on the trip. Really bad that the French got a full guided tour and explanation of sights but we didn't. Very bad TUI!!!

The coach was 25 mins late at pick up and then there was the search for the guide. This made the time at the first stop very limited so not everyone got to see the green lake.

This is a fab experience. Yes it's not a cheap experience, but how often do you get to eat food cooked on a volcano?! I found the service in the restaurant fantastic. Constantly topping up drinks and clearing your table, making sure you are comfortable. Food was lovely. Limited to what was available, but nicely cooked. They have nuggets and chips for the kids. Views are amazing. The tour of the volcano is amazing. It's a must, to at least experience once.

This tour was such good value for money. Our guide was so lovely and just helpful answering all queries. I am unsure of the spelling of her name (I think it was Colette) either way she was amazing. The volcano grill was stunning. Fresh cooked meats off the vents of the volcano. We had a small band play some Spanish tunes and it was just a lovely day with full tummies and a fab tour! Felt like we got a good taste of some Spanish culture. I would do this tour again and again!! ??

We had to keep asking for soft drinks only alcohol ones were out despite there being a lot of kids there, also food wasnt great the meats were very dried out but the experience of the tour and the awe of seeing the volcanoes more than made up for it, it was worth it for that alone as for the food if I had the choice I wouldn’t bother

Coach pick up on time. Tour guide very friendly and knowledgeable. Gave us lots of information in a pleasant sometimes amusing manner. Little difficult to understand to begin with but otherwise great. Scenery stunning, coach driver brilliant on narrow windy roads. 3 exhibits breathtaking, the handful of got ash, the bush burn in the hole in the ground and the water fountains caused by heat underground. Food cooked on natural BBQ was superb with generous portions and wine included.

Santiago as a guide was superb, his local knowledge and geological knowledge were fantastic and only added to the excursion. Alfredo, our driver, was the bravest and well experienced driver and demonstrated excellent driving skills as he navigated the twisting roads of the National Park. The volcano experience was more than we expected, the barbecue food / meal experience was excellent and well presented. Pick up and drop location was excellent practically right outside of hotel.

Staff were amazing! Short distance from flamingo beach hotel. Beautiful scenery. Limited/no vegetarian options at dinner (ate a tomato and a piece of sweet potato) almost all meat options. Strange video explaining the park (odd music) rather than a live guide let the trip down. Local band at dinner only playing to one half of the room.

the trip didnot come up to the care that l had on the last trip to the same. the rep was curt when i asked a where we should meet for our meal the answer was l have already told you all of this .l asked if see would mind telling us again. there were other people standing out of the coach who didnot know where they should go either. It was about the same for the rest of the trip. the staff were super and really helpful serving the meal.I would go again it a good trip .

I did this same trip 3 years ago with my Mother and the guide was amazing not only giving us so much information on the history of Lanzarote but also the timings and itinerary of the afternoon/evening. There were 5 of us this time, and I raved on about how it was worth the £85, however we were totally disappointed and the whole trip was over in just over 4hours. I had to explain alot to my husband and son's about what we were seeing as guide said very little and nothing about grill!

The scenery in Timanfaya National Park is absolutely stunning - probably the best volcanic landscape I have seen, especially the incredible colours and sheer number of volcanoes. The coach driver is to be congratulated on his skill! The dinner was fun for the novelty factor, but the quality of food was a bit disappointing except for the excellent dessert. The dramatic voiceover when driving around the Park was good, if quite funny in the dramatic accompanying music!

The experience of the vulcano was impressive and will stay with us. The barbecue was tasty and very well organised. As we were sitting at the side in the restaurant it would have been nice to see the musicians and their instruments a bit closer.

The volcano demonstrations were impressive and the tour of the lava flows was good. Food was good and impressively cooked by the heat of the volcano. Would be a better tour if English and German speakers were put on separate coaches as by the time the tour guide had gone through both languages then you'd already gone past what was being spoken about.

Simply lovelly, great views though could do with a extra stop on the tour as some lovelly photographs to be had. The guide was AMAZING, lovelly bloke where nothing was to much trouble. Food was OK but a little cold as the other half got a dicky bellie from it, but really great tour. Only downside was the atmospheric music was a little dated and more annoying that atmospheric. Once again the guide was ace give him a pay rise ??

The volcano tour was overall a good experience. Couldn’t understand the guide not loud enough but to be fair we had a crying baby on board d the bus. However I don’t think they should put tours together with 3 different languages I think perhaps a smaller bus with one language would be better.
